It's been a privilege to be a director for the Alliance of Pro-Life Students (APS), working at the forefront of the student pro-life movement, and with people who have become very firm friends.
Just over four years ago, APS was founded by a group of committed and determined pro-life students. They took it upon themselves to strike out, and because of their courage APS was formed and then handed over to people like you and I - the next generations of pro-life students.
The Alliance of Pro-Life Students exists to build, support and connect pro-life students and societies across Britain. At its heart, APS is a vision of a society with the utmost respect for human life from fertilisation to natural death. From my time in APS, I believe that the founders did something very special - they created an organisation that's become even more than their original intention, and an organisation that all of us have the chance to participate in. It's an organisation bigger than any one individual or personality, and it is making a real impact on campuses for the pro-life cause.
I am and we all are indebted to their work. We can't take APS for granted, because only four years ago there was nothing like it around. As I step down I'd like to say how grateful I am to APS for their work and for the opportunity to serve as one of its directors. I'm grateful to the founders of APS and directors of APS, past and present, for their dedication, courage, and friendship. And I would like to say thank you to YOU, a supporter of APS, for all of the help and support you've given APS to help it to accomplish its mission.
Working for APS has been a privilege, but it's also been very rewarding. I've gained so much in terms of knowledge, experience and confidence that I can now take to future pro-life work. As Niall, our Chairman, said at the AGM, for everything he has put into APS, it has returned to him tenfold, and the same has happened for me.
I truly believe that APS' best years are ahead of it. APS was made by people just like you and I, and it fulfils a key position in the wider pro-life movement. Lend your support to the cause - as a supporter, a volunteer, a student or a director - because together we are making a real difference. And I truly believe in the not-too-distant future, if we keep on keeping on, we will live in a society where all are welcomed in life and protected by law.
