While many organisations focus on the immediate decision of whether or not to have an abortion, there are others* that specialise in providing women with long-term practical and emotional support during pregnancy and child-rearing.
LIFE provides support for pregnant women in crisis in two specific programs:
- Care through non-directive counselling and provision of free baby clothes and equipment.
- Housing at residential support centres and skills training for homeless pregnant women 16 – 25 years of age.
You can reach LIFE at their national helpline for any pregnancy-related issue, such as (but by no means limited to) lack of support such as housing or family agreement, suffering post-pregnancy or post-abortion, or infertility. They have care centres and houses across the UK.
See their website for more information, publications and women’s stories.
